You might check and see if they are worth anything on E-Bay. I sold a nice set of The Studies of The Scriptures for $800.00.

Old WT Publications I have

due to downsizing, i would like to get rid of them.
if some of are of value and have not being scanned, i could scan them for all to share.

Seriously considering stepping down as Elder
by fader77 ini have been an elder for 6 years.
it's been the last 2 years or so that i've really seen the hypocrisy, but the ability to know the shenanigans of the society through the body of elders letters has kind of kept me in there.
i'm to the point now that i can't stand the hatred and bitterness that the body of elders has towards myself and my whole family.

When I was reading books about the JW's I would tell my husband things and he would give me the pat JW answers and I finally got mad and told him "that is what they said you would say", he got mad and told me to give him the book and he would read it. I think in his case he had stepped down because he didn't like what was going on and he was ready to hear it. Maybe you could tell her a little at a time so she realizes the org is not perfect. Do what will relive stress from your life. Being an elder can take its toll and if you are aware it isn't the truth then there is so much added stress.

You never know Fader. My husband was 4th gen on his mothers side and 3rd on his fathers and he was an elder for years. When he was 58 I woke up and was able to get him to read Crisis of Conscience and he never went back. I would suggest reading Steven Hassen's books and he will let you know how to approach the situation. Don't give up before you have even tried because your wife may have doubts that you are not aware of.

Goodbye JW net
by snare&racket inforgive me for indulging in a goodbye but it would feel wrong not to,.
i hope the discussions and atmosphere here do not change for it is a bubbling brew of doubt, bravery and sincere hunger for answers.
these are healthy ingrediants for humans and especially for a jehovah's witness.. this forum offers not just the ability to ask without consequence, but it also offers the means to be real.

I am so sorry to see you leave this site. I have enjoyed your posts and you have inspired others to reach for their dreams and to find a way to go to school. Please come back occasionally and let us know how you are doing and what it is like to finally practice as a licensed doctor. Best wishes and much happiness, your future looks so bright.

Full-time service is MORE IMPORTANT than taking care of elderly parents!!! It says so in the Sept 2014 WT
by EndofMysteries inparagraph 20 out of the article in the sept 2014 study wt about fulltime service says this.... .
"full-time servants age, and so do their parents.
when parents are witnesses, likely their fondest wish is for their children to stay in their assignments.

Total BS! It is the children's responsibility to take care of their parents when they need the help and I for one would never trust the congregation to do it because I have seen too many elderly & sick being ignored because field service is more important than caring for others. They are such money grubers!

Welcome! You are not alone because most of us have been through the same thing. My husband and I both read COC and it woke us up. We both cried when we read what they did to the ones in Malawi and many other stories. I would also recommend you read JWfacts.com to get even more information. It is a roller coaster ride and it will get better with time. You will find a lot of help here.

Dilemma
by Gorbatchov ingorby and his lovely wife had during dinner a chat about watchtower hypocrisy.
she faded with me since 2007 and shows sometimes affection for the organization.. we talked about the gb and ray franz.. she asked me if she could read my ray franz books.. now i have a dilemma.
the books gave me a hard time in the '90.. i know the ray franz truth can hurt and shock her so much.

If your wife asked for the book then you should give it to her. Most of us have read it and although it is very upsetting we are strong and for most of us it has helped with the healing process. I can't imagine she isn't strong enough to handle it since she left a few years ago.

Hello and Thank You!
by Vintagewife ini've been lurking here for about 3 months and decided it was time to register and become active.
i left the organization 17 years ago.
like so many of you, i had endured less than christian behavior from the strong cliches that ran our congregation.

Welcome Vintagewife, I am glad you were able to walk away and have your family with you. I can't imagine how you felt to hear someone threaten your life while others egged him on, what a bunch of cowards to treat a woman that way.

The hardship of being a gay Jehovahs witness.
by truthwillsetyoufree inplease spare a moment to consider the difiiculties faced by gay jehovahs witnesses.
i was raised and baptised as a very serious jw.
every waking moment of my day was lived for jehovahs and his organization and for nothing else.

Thank you for sharing your story with us, I can't even begin to imagine what you have been through. There are many out there who have been through the same thing as you. One FB site Ex-Jehovah's Witness Recovery Group 3 has some gay members on there and they can also direct you to sites that might offer you more help.
My sister is gay and we have had many conversations about what she has been through even though she was never a JW. She lives a very fulfilling life and is very happy. I would suggest you find a support group and seek a therapist to help you get stronger so you can live a happy life. From what I gather you are still young so you have a wonderful life ahead if you can get the help you need. You have been abused long enough, there are great people out there who don't care if you are gay or straight who will love you and want to be with you. Hang in there.
